Table Mates is a platform where you can reserve a spot or host a table to dine with people you don’t know yet in a restaurant near you.

Client Challenge

The founder of Table Mates had to manage everything manually. Requests were submitted via a form on the website, which she would receive by email. From there, she had to piece everything together herself. Manually composing the group, sending follow-up emails, keeping everyone informed, and more.

Thanks to the success of Table Mates, the company has been growing steadily. With that growth came the need for a digitalization that could scale with them.

Table Mates needed both their marketing website and booking platform to work seamlessly together, while ensuring the Table Mates could manage all content themselves.

A booking platform that fully automates the process of reserving and hosting a table, including automatic payment, without any need for the founder's intervention.
A dashboard that allows the founder to manage everything seamlessly and maintain complete control over the application.
Integrations with an external payment system (Stripe) and automated mailing system (MailChimp). This enables the automatic sending of confirmation, payment, and reminder emails.

Approach

During an initial exploratory workshop, the entire reservation process was mapped out. This revealed significant opportunities for automation.

A complete logic was developed for the system, covering table hosting, seat requests, and email automation.

In the development phase, a staging environment was set up as early as possible. It allows the client to follow the project’s progress in real-time and provide immediate feedback.

Special attention was given to making the application scalable, as Table Mates aims to expand internationally.

After the client crafted the email templates to their liking, these were integrated, and the platform went live.

Outcome

Table Mates saves around 90% of their time now that reservations are handled automatically through the platform.
Focus on a good user experience. Since account details are saved, returning diners don’t need to re-enter their information.
So far, 142 tables have been hosted through the platform.
With the automation in place, Table Mates can now focus more on building relationships with restaurants, supporting table hosts, and ensuring everything runs smoothly.
